Things to see and do

Somerville is a quiet rural community, with only a few local businesses. If you speed by our southern portion on Rte 17, you'll never know you missed us. However, our back roads are all dirt, and if you slow down and enjoy the scenery, you might see some of what keeps us here, from the beauty of our backyards to the occasional moose who wanders through.

Fall is Fair time in Maine, and there are several close to Somerville:
Common Ground Country Fair - Unity, last weekend in September, home to MOFGA
Union Fair - Union, middle to late August
Windsor Fair - Windsor Maine, late August

Farmer in the Dell operates a farm stand on Patricktown Rd (at the junction of Turner Ridge Rd and 105) from spring through fall, with a variety of flowers, vegetables, and dairy.

Pumpkin Vine Family Farm and Sand Hill Farm partner every Sunday from 11 am - 4 pm to provide a range of local treats, from organic veggies to baked goods and goat cheese. The market is held at Pumpkin Vine Family Farm on 217 Hewett Rd and is open for tours and picnics during market hours.

For all those things you can't live without
Husseys, Windsor. As their sign says: Guns, wedding gowns, and cold beer

Sheepscot General, Whitefield - Cafe, Friday Pizza night, entertainment

Washington General Washington, on Facebook. Delicious homemade pizza, sandwiches, and baked goods

Somerville is home to numerous small ponds, including Long Pond, Jones Pond, and Turner Pond.

Beyond Somerville's borders, numerous lakes await the eager swimmer, including:

Damariscotta Lake State Park in Jefferson has a lovely sand beach and shallow entrance.

Lake St George State Park in Liberty is a spring fed lake that is clean (and cold) and has an extensive playground and picnic facilities.
