There are blank General Assistance applications in the little pantry by the town office door, as well as the bulletin board at the fire station on RTE 17. As General Assistance Officer I will be working under the direction of the Selectboard for the 2026-27 fiscal year.
Any resident applying for General Assistance must fill out the State of Maine mandated form which can be picked up from the Town Office any Monday or Wednesday from 9AM to 6PM at 72 Sand Hill Road. If you are unable to come to the office for a form, please call the Town Clerk and request a form to be mailed. The phone number is
549-3828.
Please return the completed form to the Town Clerk during the aforementioned office hours. After receiving and reviewing the application I will call you within 24 hours. In an emergency I can be reached at (207) 242-1784.
I look forward to working with you. My office hours for any of your questions will be the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month from 4-6PM at the Town Office. Please call me to confirm an appointment.
Notice
The Municipality of Somerville administers a General Assistance program for the support of those in need. Pursuant to Title 22 MSRA §4305, the municipal officers have adopted an ordinance establishing that program. A copy of this ordinance and relevant statutes is available for public inspection.
Persons who wish to apply for General Assistance may do so by contacting the General Assistance Officer, 24-hour response is available via phone response is available at 207-242-1784 with voicemail.
The municipality must issue a written decision regarding eligibility to all applicants within 24 hours of receiving an application. Applications are available at the Town Office upon request or from the GA email.
The Department of Human Services toll-free telephone number to call with a question regarding the General Assistance Program is 1-800-442-6003.
